My work has continually returned to a realist vision of the
landscape.
I'm usually drawn to compositions where mechanized forms either mimic
or contrast with the natural forms in the landscape. Painting outdoors
gives me the time to meditate on color saturation, and generally obsess
over light and the texture of the things I see.
I became interested in Still Life painting after a few years of
teaching art history. This controlled study of objects lets me play
with historical content while exploring painterly mood. Born in IOWA
